Roman's Story

Roman Statt is a fun-loving, happy, and active
2-year-old little boy. On August 14, 2013, Roman was diagnosed with a type of Leukemia called AML, his specific subtype being M7 or Acute Megakaryoblastic Leukemia. It is a very rare form, but Roman is a fighter!

Roman is at Golisano Children's Hospital (a division of Strong Memorial Hospital) for treatment. To keep up-to-date on Roman's progress, read journal entries by his mom and dad, Darcy and Kevin, and to leave your own messages for Roman and the family, click here to visit his Caring Bridge page.

Roman's family has been spending as much time as possible with him, and being there to support him in every way. Roman also has a little brother on the way (due in January)! Unfortunately, his mom Darcy has not been able to work, and the family could really use your help.

There have been a few benefits devoted to raising funds for Roman and his family, and there is one more coming up on November 2! These events help raise money to offset some of the uncovered costs, including inpatient stays, medications, blood transfusions, and more. On November 2, from 4 - 8pm, there is a Rally for Roman Spaghetti Dinner Benefit at Gates Co. 3 Firehouse, 22 Coldwater Road in Gates, NY. Tickets are $10 at the door for adults, and $5 for children 12 and under. There will be raffles, food, and more. Click here for more information on this great event for Roman!
